Charles Mears State Park is a beautiful Pentwater campground offering 175 campsites spread across roughly 50 sandy, shaded acres next to Lake Michigan.

The campground boasts a wide variety of features and convenient amenities, but what makes it most appealing and unique is the adjoining public beach, boardwalk, piers, and lighthouses. Campers are only steps from the water, and the whole area is perfect for kids to explore on bikes and skateboards.

Many families have been visiting Charles Mears each summer for decades – a place that offers magical memories and precious moments.

The state park is also located only a few blocks from the main street of Pentwater, Michigan. Here you will find several restaurants, boutique shops of all types, a farmers markets, marinas, and art galleries to browse.

Another special feature of the park is a hiking trail (with viewing deck) to the top of Old Baldy – the high sand dune looking down on the park and over Lake Michigan. Climbing up and racing down is a fond memory of every child who has stayed here.
